West Rutland’s own Phil Henry has once again put himself in another class of singer/songwriters.
Chosen out of 800 applicants, he will compete at the Kerrville New Folk concerts in Kerrville, Texas, on May 24.

There comes a time, no matter how hard the loss, that you have to pick up your instrument and move on.
Rutland’s own Steve Baldwin a.k.a. “Mr. Blues” has reached that point. He lost his good friend and musical partner, Andy Robbins, to cancer fairly recently and has been out of the circuit for a while. But as they say, the show must go on, so Mr. Blues and his Sunnyland Blues Outfit are looking for a guitar player to replace Robbins.

The Lakes Region Youth Orchestra will share the stage with Vermont vocalist Elisabeth von Trapp —granddaughter of Maria and Baron von Trapp of “The Sound of Music” fame
— at this weekend’s Spring Gala Concert at the Paramount Theatre in Rutland.
With two rounds of concerts for the price of one ticket, the younger ensembles, made up of elementary and middle school children, will play from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. before the senior ensembles take the stage at 7 p.m. Sunday.
